About Me
Shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto (BA, 1981; MA, 1982), I began my career in book publishing working for the small (at that time we were a staff of three) but influential House of Anansi Press. There I learned the ins and outs of small-press publishing, helping with tasks from manuscript reading to organizing promotional tours and everything in between. With guidance and support from President Ann Wall and, especially, our wonderful Editorial Director, James Polk, I learned what I needed to strike out on my own as a freelance editor. Working at Anansi provided me with invaluable experience.
In my freelance career I have worked for many of Canada’s trade book publishers, both large and small, as well as a number of university presses. My freelance work has encompassed fiction and non-fiction, including Young Adult books.
Some of my specialties are: Young Adult fiction and non-fiction, literary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, biography and memoir, and indexing of academic texts.
